HDM Initiative. 1st EaP Ministerial Meeting on Digital Economy held in Luxemburg

European Union (EU) is facing to create the real Digital Single Market (DSM) which should be truly open as well for our neighbors from Eastern Partnership (EaP) region. Harmonization of the national Digital Markets in the EU and EaP countries is considered to be the vital process of their convergence and integration by eliminating regulatory barriers, overcoming technological obstacles and aligning the digitalization levels of the European regions. HDM initiative is supported by the European IT Association DigitalEurope as the effective instrument for national and trade associations collaboration and the joint projects development for modern digital infrastructures and services in the EU and Eastern Partner countries. The EaP market with 72 mln. people is the new opportunity for EU to improve it's digital competitiveness.

HDM initiative was conceived in 2014 and has gained in a year the strong governmental support from all Eastern Partner countries and the number of EU Members states. The network of HDM national coordinators and champions has been created in the form of HDM Working Group as well as the HDM study project has been successfully completed with the financial support of the European Commission (EC). The priority HDM topics have been defined in the Declaration of the 1st EaP Ministerial Meeting on the Digital Economy held on 11th June in Luxemburg under the leadership of the EC Vice President Mr Andrus Ansip. This Declaration serves as the program document for activities of the future HDM panel to synergize efforts and coordinate actions of the relevant stakeholders from EU member states and partner countries. The European IT Association DigitalEurope is determined to encourage Win-Win digital sectors cooperation in the Eastern Partnership with EU member states transferring their DSM legislation and regulatory expertise, sharing the best digital market practices as well as exporting business models and solutions for digital services. The EaP countries can provide the skilled pool of IT professionals for the joint projects development as well as the preferential access and business support at their emerging digital markets.
